This improvisition was part of an only partly successful song suite called Calling Home. This song suite was an experiment in producing quartet or trio improvisitions, and then peeling duets off the parent composition. The sounds are too much the same to be used that carelessly – more arrangement is needed than I managed in this song suite. It was a learning experience.
Some pieces did work, however, and this guitar trio is one of them. Here the live guitar work gradually fades into a transcription for cyber-flute, viola and cello, starting at 1:00. It’s still what the guitars originally played, but in other instruments. By 1:50 the cyber-trio is all you can hear – the guitars are gone. At 2:25 the live guitars start fading back in, the cyber-instruments gradually receding until by 3:40, we end as we started, with pure live guitar work.
